DHQ Probes Fatal Explosion at DICON Kaduna Facility

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) is investigating an ordnance explosion at the Defence Industrial Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) facility in Kaduna on September 20, 2025, which tragically led to one death and injuries to personnel. The Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusa, confirmed the incident and stated that the explosion was caused by expired materials like Ammonium Nitrates and Primer Caps.

The injured personnel are receiving treatment at the Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna. The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Christopher Gwabin Musa, expressed condolences and assured the public of strict safety standards at DICON.

The incident highlights the importance of maintaining operational safety in defense facilities.
