Nigerian Troops Neutralize 102 Terrorists in July

In July, troops of the Nigerian Armed Forces neutralized over 102 terrorists and criminal elements as part of ongoing operations to enhance national security, according to the Defence Headquarters (DHQ). The Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen.

Michael Onoja, reported that 345 terrorists and criminals were apprehended, and 393 kidnapped civilians were rescued. Operations in the North-East resulted in the neutralization of 54 fighters and the arrest of 102 terrorists, while the North-West saw 33 fighters killed and 66 arrests.

In the North-Central region, 15 terrorists were killed, and 148 suspects were apprehended. In the South-South and South-East, a total of 47 victims were rescued, and 29 criminals were arrested.

Additionally, anti-kidnapping operations led to the dismantling of 18 illegal refining sites in Akwa Ibom, Edo, and Rivers States, recovering over 250,500 litres of petroleum products. The DHQ also noted that 57 insurgents surrendered during this period.
