Nigerian Troops Neutralize 216 Terrorists in April Operations

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) reported that Nigerian troops neutralized 216 terrorists and apprehended 284 suspects during military operations conducted across various theatres in April. Maj Gen Michael Onoja disclosed this information during a briefing in Abuja.

The operations aimed to rescue kidnapped civilians and dismantle terrorist enclaves, significantly degrading the operational capabilities of insurgent groups in the northeast. Notable achievements included the neutralization of 136 terrorists and the apprehension of 114 suspects in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe states, along with the rescue of 90 captives from Mandara Mountain.

In the northwest, troops neutralized 24 terrorists and rescued 70 kidnapped victims across Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Zamfara states. The operations also led to the recovery of arms and the destruction of criminal camps.

The DHQ emphasized its commitment to ongoing offensives against terrorist elements to ensure national security and the safety of citizens.
