Troops Recover 74 Terrorists' Bodies in North East Nigeria

The Defence Headquarters disclosed that troops operating in North East Nigeria recovered no fewer than 74 bodies of terrorists following intensified operations from March 13 to March 19. Major General Michael Onoja, Director of Defence Media Operations, reported that troops successfully repelled a major assault in Mallam Fatori, Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State, killing numerous insurgents, including senior commanders.

The operations also thwarted multiple infiltration attempts across Bama, Gujba, and Kaga LGAs. Coordinated air and ground operations effectively repelled attacks in Baga, Damboa, Buratai, and Njimtilo, significantly weakening the operational capacity of ISWAP.

Additionally, troops intercepted suspected gunrunners in Taraba State, recovering ammunition, cash, motorcycles, and rescuing abducted victims. The military also disrupted illegal mining activities and intensified operations against oil theft in the Niger Delta, leading to several arrests and the recovery of stolen petroleum products.
