Dialogue on Nigerian Economy to Honor Prof. Ekpo

A dialogue focusing on the Nigerian economy is scheduled for June 26, 2026, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, to honor Prof. Akpan Hogan Ekpo on his 72nd birthday.

Prof. Ekpo, a renowned scholar in economics and public policy, will deliver the keynote address.

The event will include six discussions led by various professors, covering topics such as monetary policy, labor market performance, poverty, and Nigeria's debt profile. Notable speakers include Prof.

Chikanel Asuru, Prof. Emmanuel Onwioduokit, and Prof.

Trenchard O. Ibia, among others.

The event will also feature the presentation of a book titled "Misunderstanding Academic Staff Union" authored by Prof. Effiong Johnson.

Prof. Ekpo, who was appointed emeritus professor at the University of Uyo on September 25, 2024, has had a distinguished career, including serving as the director general of the West African Institute for Financial and Economic Management from May 2009 to December 2018.

The celebration will conclude with a thanksgiving service on June 28, 2026.
