Diaspora Groups Praise Enugu Monarch for Speaking Out

Diaspora advocacy groups commended HRM Eze Lawrence Chikezi Agubuzu, the traditional ruler of the Ogbunechendo Ezema Olo Kingdom in Ezeagu Local Government, for his courage in addressing President Bola Tinubu about the ongoing detention of Nnamdi Kanu. During the 2026 National Traditional Religious Leader Summit in Abuja, Agubuzu highlighted the unjust nature of Kanu's detention and called for his release, emphasizing that Kanu should not be treated differently from other self-determination activists.

The statement, signed by Dr. Sylvest Onyia, Chief Evan Nwankwo, and Dr. Maxwel Dede from the Rise Sun Foundation, praised Agubuzu's bravery and criticized the silence of other Igbo leaders. The groups expressed concern over the perceived discrimination against the Igbo people and urged traditional rulers to abandon cowardice and speak out against injustices affecting their community.
