Monarch Urges Tinubu to Release Nnamdi Kanu or Return Him

Dr. Lawer Agubuzu, a royal high ambassador from Ezeagu Local Government Area in Enugu State, called on President Bola Tinubu to either release Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), or return him to either Kenya or the United Kingdom.

Agubuzu made this appeal during the 2026 National Traditional Religious Leaders Summit held at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja. He highlighted that Kanu's continued detention is fueling unrest among the youth in the Southeast and referred to earlier remarks made by the Ooni regarding the situation.

Agubuzu stressed that Nigeria cannot progress without confronting its difficult issues, including Kanu's imprisonment, which he believes contributes to national tension. The summit aimed to discuss the role of traditional and religious leaders in advancing Nigeria's health sector and promoting community participation in health sector reform.
