Diaspora Group Urges Protection for Nigerians in South Africa

Jame Erebuoy, the diaspora ambassador, has expressed deep concern regarding the safety of Nigerian citizens residing in South Africa. In a statement released on Tuesday, Erebuoy urged the Nigerian government to take urgent measures to safeguard the lives and properties of Nigerians in South Africa, particularly in light of increasing incidents of harassment and violence against foreign nationals.

He called on the South African government to caution its citizens and take decisive action against what he described as unnecessary harassment of fellow Africans. Erebuoy highlighted a disturbing trend, referencing a video that showed a fellow African being beaten without justification.

He emphasized the need for African nations to unite and focus on development rather than creating conflict, advocating for stronger collaboration among African nations to promote peace, mutual respect, and unity. This statement comes amid growing concerns over xenophobic attacks in South Africa, which have sparked reactions from various stakeholders across the African diaspora community.
