Diesel Price Rises to 29.72% in July 2025, 10 States Pay More

In July 2025, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reported a 29.72% increase in diesel prices in Nigeria, with 10 states paying more for Automotive Gas Oil compared to the previous year. Despite a slight monthly decline, the average retail price of diesel rose from July 2024 to July 2025.

Conversely, the average retail price of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) decreased compared to June 2025, but saw an increase from July 2024. Jigawa and Lagos were reported to have the highest average retail prices for petrol.

These statistics highlight the rising cost of diesel in Nigeria, impacting consumers and businesses across the country.
