Nigerian Cooking Gas Prices Surge, South-East Offers Cheapest Rates

The price of cooking gas in Nigeria has seen a significant increase, with the National Bureau of Statistics reporting a rise in the cost of refilling cylinders over the past year. The LPG Price Watch Report revealed a surge in prices from July to August, posing a financial burden on households.

While there was a slight decline in prices from June to July, experts warn that this may not indicate a sustained downward trend. The report highlighted that the South-South and South-East regions recorded the highest and lowest average retail prices for cooking gas cylinders, respectively.

Nigerians in states like Yobe and Niger enjoy the lowest prices, while residents in Rivers and Taraba face higher costs for refilling cylinders.
