Dino Melaye Criticizes APC Over Rejection of E-Transmission Clause in Electoral Act

Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, has taken a swipe at the All Progressives Congress (APC) for opposing the real-time electronic transmission of election results. Melaye criticized the APC for resisting electoral reforms and promoting transparency in the electoral process.

He accused the party of sabotaging electoral reforms by deleting the clause mandating real-time electronic transmission of election results in the Electoral Act Amendment Bill. Melaye warned that the removal of this clause could weaken the electoral integrity and open the door to electoral manipulation.

His comments came amidst widespread protests in Abuja and on social media platforms against the Senate's decision to delete the crucial clause. Civil society organizations, opposition leaders, youth groups, and pro-democracy advocates have voiced their opposition to the removal, citing concerns about the potential for electoral malpractice.
