Niger State Assures Safety Amid False Bandit Reports

The Niger State Government has urged residents to disregard reports of bandit invasions in schools, particularly in Minna and surrounding areas. Nana, a representative of the Niger State Ministry of Information, made this statement on Thursday, assuring the public, especially parents and guardians, that schools are safe for teaching and learning.

The government reacted to panic caused by social media reports alleging abductions of students and teachers in Bosso, Kpakungu, Sabon Wuse, and Lambata. It was clarified that these claims were unfounded and designed to create unnecessary fear.

The Niger State Police Command, in consultation with the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, confirmed that no such incidents had occurred. The government remains committed to the safety and welfare of students and teachers, and has implemented measures to strengthen security around educational institutions.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to remain calm and continue sending their children to school, as adequate safety measures are in place.
