Ebonyi Police Dismiss False Bandit Claims in Nguzu Edda

The Ebonyi State Police Command has officially dismissed a false report circulating on social media that alleged bandits and herdsmen had invaded the Nguzu Edda Community. Upon receiving information about the claims, the Commissioner of Police, Hope Urunwa Okafor, directed the Division Police Officer (DPO) of Edda to assess and verify the situation.

A tactical team from the command headquarters was deployed to the area, where thorough searches were conducted in the surrounding bush. The police confirmed that no bandits or herdsmen were present in the community, categorizing the report as false and misleading, aimed at creating panic among residents.

The statement, issued on Tuesday by the command's Public Relations Officer, Joshua Ukandu, urged the public to disregard the unfounded claims, attributing them to mischief-makers seeking to incite fear and disrupt peace. Commissioner Okafor reassured residents of Ebonyi State that adequate security measures are in place to safeguard lives and property and encouraged vigilance in reporting suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
