DMI Backs Tinubu, Forms Alliance With Pro-Government Movement

Labour Party-linked group shifts support to President Tinubu's economic reforms and joins coalition ahead of 2027 elections.

The Directorate of Mobilisation and Integration has pledged its backing for President Bola Tinubu's economic and structural reforms, announcing a formal partnership with the Tinubu Must Stay Movement in preparation for the 2027 general elections. Marvel Jime, the organisation's Director of Policy and Administration, released the statement on Saturday, October 24, 2026, outlining the group's position on governance and national development.

According to multiple reports, the DMI cited internal leadership conflicts within the Labour Party as a factor in its decision to shift political allegiance. The group stated that its commitment to national progress supersedes its attachment to any single political platform, signalling a departure from its previous Labour Party association.

Jime's statement emphasised the need for sustained implementation of the administration's reform agenda while acknowledging that ordinary Nigerians continue to face economic hardship. The DMI framed its alliance as part of a broader push for citizen participation in governance and accountability in how policies are executed and delivered to the public.

The group adopted what it described as a Nigeria First Agenda, positioning itself around three core areas: citizen engagement, governance standards, and national development priorities. The DMI's move adds to the growing list of civil society and grassroots organisations backing the Tinubu administration's policy direction as the 2027 election cycle gains momentum.
