Labour Party Youth Wing Proposes Alliance With APC to Back Tinubu in 2027

Members of the Labour Party's youth wing have advanced a proposal seeking partnership with the ruling All Progressives Congress and its pro-Tinubu affiliated bodies to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's bid for re-election in 2027. The initiative emerged following a virtual gathering on October 2, 2026, that brought together National Youth Leader Prince Kennedy Ahanotu, five coordinators from national zones, and representatives from each of the 32 states.

According to reports, youth leaders issued a communiqué outlining intentions to engage in consultations with APC officials and connected organisations. The Renewed Hope Movement, City Boy Movement, and various grassroots pro-Tinubu groups were identified as potential partners.

Such developments represent a significant shift for the Labour Party's youth cadre, which had mobilised behind Peter Obi's presidential aspirations during the 2023 election cycle. Comrade Ken Omusi, Youth Leader representing Edo State, appended his signature to the statement and shared it through the party's official social media channels.

The initiative was characterised as embodying wider discussions on party direction and youth involvement in Nigeria's governance framework. Reports indicate this reflects assessments by youth operatives regarding their party's engagement with younger citizens.

Formal partnership arrangements between Labour and the APC will require further consultative engagements between leadership teams of each organisation. By advancing this proposal roughly three years before the 2027 electoral contest, these youth operatives seem to be securing early positions in what observers anticipate will emerge as a highly competitive election.
