Nigerian Doctors Strike, Leaving Hospitals Shut and Citizens Stranded

Hospitals across Nigeria were shut down as the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) commenced a warning strike demanding better welfare and improved working conditions. The strike, which began following the expiration of the government's ultimatum on September 10, 2025, left millions of Nigerians relying on public hospitals stranded.

NARD President Dr. Tope Osundare highlighted issues such as poor working conditions, power shortages, and inadequate remuneration as reasons for the action.

The strike aimed to press for a stronger healthcare system and drew attention to the challenges faced by healthcare workers in Nigeria.
