‘Does It Mean Fubara Will Not Return’ – Tonye Cole Questions Rivers LG Election

Tonye Cole has raised concerns about the upcoming local government election in Rivers State, scheduled for July, despite the Supreme Court's nullification of Governor Siminalayi Fubara's election in February. The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) proceeded with the poll, leading to political turmoil and President Bola Tinubu's suspension of Fubara and his deputy.

Cole questioned the rush to hold the election, suggesting that waiting for Fubara's return would be more legitimate. He speculated that the August 30 election date could be a strategic move to either extend the sole administrator's tenure or undermine Fubara's potential return.

Cole's remarks on the Politics Today program on Channels Television highlight the uncertainty surrounding the state's political landscape.
