Prof. Aderonmu Advocates for Architectural Education Reform

During a lecture at Redeemer's University, Prof. Peter Adewuyi Aderonmu called for the standardization of architectural studies in Nigeria to strengthen the architectural design profession and address issues such as rapid urbanization and environmental degradation.

He argued that recalibrating the architectural compass is essential to combat the housing crisis and to affirm cultural identity. Aderonmu criticized the current state of architecture in Nigeria, highlighting the prevalence of quackery and abandoned projects.

He urged for a stronger bridge between academia and professional practice, advocating for robust continuing professional development (CPD) and the integration of ethics into the curriculum. Aderonmu also emphasized the importance of practical experience through internships and the need for universities to adapt their curricula to meet societal demands and align with global realities.

He commended the Vice Chancellor of Redeemer's University, Shadrach Akindele, for contributing to the growth of the institution while stressing the continuous evolution of architectural education.
