New Book on Military Law Launched in Sokoto, Nigeria

A book titled "Military Law in Nigeria: A Quick Reference Guide to Practice and Procedure," co-authored by Professor Ibrahim Abdullahi and Barrister Rashida Muhammad, was launched in Sokoto. The event was attended by notable figures, including Barrister Muhammad Bello Goronyo and Sokoto State Governor Ahmadu Aliyu, represented by Engr.

Idris Gobir. Professor Abdullahi emphasized that the Nigerian Constitution serves as the foundation for military powers, specifically referencing Sections 217 and 219, which establish the command structure and operational mandates of the armed forces.

He highlighted the importance of military law in protecting human rights and ensuring accountability. The book, designed to be accessible to non-lawyers, aims to bridge the knowledge gap between civilian legal practices and military justice.

Dr. Ahmad Adam Oken from the Nigerian Defence College praised the authors for their contributions to legal scholarship.

The launch was noted as timely amidst ongoing discussions about civil-military relations and human rights in Nigeria.
