Professor Dasaolu Advocates for Animal Rights Enforcement

During the 126th inaugural lecture at Olabisi Onabanjo University in Ago Iwoye, Professor African Appli Ethic Babajid Dasaolu called for the strict enforcement of laws to protect animal rights, emphasizing the need to stop cruelty against animals. He criticized the common belief that animals can be treated without regard for their suffering, arguing that animals play a crucial role in the ecosystem and deserve protection.

Dasaolu highlighted the cultural practices that lead to the killing of animals under the guise of witchcraft, noting that certain animals are demonized and killed without hesitation. He urged a moral awakening to replace fear and superstition with reason, advocating for legal frameworks to safeguard animal rights.

Vice Chancellor Ayodeji Agboola praised Dasaolu's insights and noted the importance of addressing animal cruelty to prevent the transmission of zoonotic diseases. Dasaolu's lecture aimed to raise awareness about the ethical treatment of animals and the necessity of legal protections against unjustified killings.
