NILDS DG Urges Nigerian Youths to Embrace Politics

Prof. Abubakar Olanrewaju Sulaiman, the Director General of the Nigerian Institute of Legislative Studies (NILDS), addressed Nigerian youths during the institute's seventh anniversary in Abuja.

He challenged them to actively participate in politics instead of disengaging from the democratic system, warning that democracy cannot be reformed without their involvement. Sulaiman noted that despite growing disenchantment among young Nigerians, meaningful change can only occur when they join political parties and contest for electoral positions.

He condemned the notion of abandoning the democratic process, stating that young people must embrace leadership and public service. Sulaiman highlighted his administration's focus on mentorship and human capital development, which has led to significant achievements, including non-academic staff pursuing higher education.

He underscored the sacrifices required in public service and the need for young leaders to prepare for future roles. Former Senator Shehu Sani praised Sulaiman's leadership, acknowledging NILDS as a crucial intellectual support for Nigeria's parliament.
