Nigerian Youth Urged to Engage in Politics by Sulaiman

On Thursday, during a commemorative event in Abuja marking the seventh anniversary of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Prof. Abubakar Sulaiman, the Director-General, urged Nigerian youths to actively participate in the democratic process rather than abandon it due to disillusionment.

He stated that while protests are important, they should evolve into political engagement to effect change. Sulaiman emphasized that the future of Nigeria's democracy relies on a new generation of leaders who are prepared for public service.

He reflected on the achievements of NILDS, particularly in mentorship and human capital development, and called for investments in both academic and non-academic staff. Former Senator Shehu Sani praised Sulaiman for transforming NILDS into a vital intellectual resource for legislative democracy in Nigeria, stressing the need for young politicians to leverage the institute's resources for effective governance.
