Wike Advises Kuje Chairman-Elect on Community Engagement

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, urged the newly elected chairman of Kuje Area Council, Danjuma Shekwolo, to stay connected with the people and avoid becoming an "away chairman." During a visit to Kuje on Thursday following the February 21 area council elections, Wike highlighted that true leadership challenges begin after electoral victories. The All Progressives Congress (APC) won five out of six chairmanship seats in the Federal Capital Territory during these elections, while the People's Democratic Party secured the chairmanship seat in Gwagwalada.

Wike warned that disconnecting from the community could risk losing political support and emphasized the need for humility in office. He criticized the outgoing council chairman for allegedly withdrawing support during critical moments of the election campaign.

Wike reaffirmed the federal government's commitment to infrastructure development in Kuje, mentioning ongoing projects like the completion of the Garag Road and the advancement of the Kuje-Gwagwalada Road.
