Ondo APC Elders Urge Governor Against Candidate Imposition

Elders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State have cautioned Governor Lucki Aiyedatiwa against the imposition of unpopular candidates in the lead-up to the 2027 state assembly elections. During a free medical outreach event in Akure, spokesperson Ademola Ijabiyi urged the governor to consult widely with stakeholders and back aspirants to ensure inclusivity and avoid internal crises within the party.

The elders expressed their optimism regarding the party's primary elections and emphasized the importance of transparency and unity to prevent post-primary disputes. They also highlighted the need for the governor to maintain an independent stance in the candidate selection process.

The elders reaffirmed their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and expressed confidence in Ondo State delivering substantial votes for him in the upcoming elections. The ongoing internal disputes regarding candidate selection remain a recurring challenge in Nigeria's political landscape.
