Families Demand Justice for Detained Military Officers

On Wednesday, families of 16 detained military officers protested at the National Assembly in Abuja, urging for a speedy trial and access to reports concerning their loved ones. The officers, including Brigadier General M.

Sadiq and Colonel M. Maaji, have reportedly been in custody for six months without trial, leading to significant emotional distress for their families.

Memuna Bashiru spoke on behalf of the families, emphasizing the uncertainty and suffering caused by the prolonged detention. The protestors held placards with messages such as "Don't kill daddi," highlighting their demand for justice.

Notably, the families included children of the detained officers, such as Halima Moham, who pleaded for her father's release. The protest was supported by human rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju and activist Omoyele Sowore, who joined the families in their call for either the release of the officers or their arraignment in court.
