Adeleke Urges Tinubu to Prevent Violence in Osun Elections

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has appealed to President Bola Tinubu for intervention in the political unrest in Osun, alleging that Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, is instigating actions that could lead to crisis. Speaking at a campaign rally in Olorunda Local Government Area of Osogbo, Adeleke claimed that members of his party are facing attacks and fatalities.

He urged the President to ensure the upcoming elections are conducted fairly, warning against any manipulation of results. Adeleke referenced the political violence of the 1983 elections in the South-West, expressing a desire to avoid a repeat of such events.

He criticized the police for their lack of impartiality and called for security agencies to focus on combating crime rather than intimidating political opponents. After the rally, he reiterated his concerns on social media, stating that Osun is suffering and that the loss of innocent lives must cease.

He emphasized the need for a free and fair election to protect democracy.
