Adeleke Urges Tinubu to Address Violence in Osun State

Ademola Adeleke, the Governor of Osun State, has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu regarding alleged killings, intimidation, and illegal detentions of residents in Osun State as the August 15 governorship election approaches. Speaking at a campaign rally in Osogbo, Adeleke warned that the people would resist any attempts to rig the election, referencing past electoral violence in the old Western Region.

He claimed that seven members of the Accord Party had been killed in the last three months, with over 20 others injured and more than 60 in illegal police detention. Adeleke accused elements within the police of aiding APC thugs in these acts and urged the President to ensure that the police act impartially.

He also called for an end to the violence, stating that the name of President Tinubu was being misused by APC members to justify their actions. Adeleke expressed confidence in winning the election if it is conducted fairly and urged supporters to vote and stay until results are declared.
