Obi Urges JAMB to Address Student Hardships Nationwide

Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, has called on the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to ensure that candidates do not suffer due to systemic failures. He expressed his concerns regarding the confusion at examination centers, particularly in Amawbia, Anambra State, where candidates have faced significant hardships.

Obi highlighted that the ongoing registration process has been adversely affected by administrative lapses, which have led to congestion and difficulties for students nationwide. He noted that similar complaints were raised the previous year and urged JAMB to adopt a balanced human approach in their operations.

Obi recommended that the examination body allow centers to operate under strict supervision to prevent further lapses and suggested temporarily re-engaging previously approved centers under close monitoring. He emphasized that students should not bear the consequences of systemic shortcomings, especially as the registration deadline approaches on February 26, 2026.
