Obi Raises Alarm Over UTME Registration Issues in Anambra

Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and a presidential candidate for the Labour Party in the 2023 elections, has expressed significant concerns about the difficulties students are encountering while registering for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). In a statement shared via X on Monday, Obi highlighted the hardships faced by students in Amawbia, Awka South Local Government Area, and noted that these issues mirror those experienced last year.

He criticized the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB) for the challenges at various centers across Nigeria, particularly in Anambra State. Obi emphasized the need for a balanced approach from authorities regarding the sanctioning of Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers, urging that students should not suffer due to systemic failures.

He pointed out the urgency of the situation, as the registration deadline approaches on February 26, warning that candidates, especially from remote rural areas, may miss the examination if immediate action is not taken.
