Omole Defends IGP Disu Against Senate Clearance Calls

Charl Omole, a security expert, stated that the current Inspector General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu, should not be singled out for Senate clearance. During an interview on Arise Television's Prime Time, Omole highlighted that no past IGP has undergone Senate clearance, suggesting that lawmakers should not include this requirement for the current IGP.

He pointed out that the Police Act mandates the IGP to produce a national police plan and submit it at the end of each financial year, a responsibility he claims has never been fulfilled. Omole's comments reflect a broader concern regarding the accountability and operational effectiveness of the police force in Nigeria.
