ADC Criticizes FG Over Arrest Attempt of El-Rufai

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) condemned the Federal Government's alleged attempt to arrest former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport without presenting a warrant. In a statement issued on Friday and signed by the party's National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC warned that such actions raise serious constitutional and democratic concerns.

The party described the incident as part of a troubling pattern of selective enforcement against opposition figures under President Bola Tinubu's administration. The ADC emphasized that no individual is above the law and cautioned against the weaponization of state institutions against political opponents.

The statement highlighted that the security operatives allegedly waited for El-Rufai at the airport with the intent to arrest him but failed to present a warrant at the time. Furthermore, the ADC criticized the double standards in the government's anti-corruption fight, arguing that it undermines public trust in the rule of law and the moral authority of the government.

The party reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and accountability, insisting that justice should not be perceived through a partisan lens.
