El-Rufai Condemns 'Illegal Attempt' to Arrest Him at Abuja Airport

Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai has reacted to what he describes as an illegal attempt to arrest him at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. El-Rufai's lawyer, Ubong Esop Akpan, criticized the move as a blatant violation of the former governor's constitutional rights.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had sent an invitation to El-Rufai to appear at their office, but due to being abroad, he had informed the EFCC of his compliance to voluntarily appear on Monday, February 16, 2026, at 10:00 AM. El-Rufai's lawyer emphasized that the attempted arrest was unlawful and called for respect for the former governor's rights.
