Court Sets Ruling Date for Okafor vs. Ogala Lawsuit

The Ikeja High Court has set April 16, 2026, for a ruling on a lawsuit filed by Nigerian cleric Chris Okafor against Nollywood actress Doris Ogala. The suit, marked ID 14399GCMW/2026, was discussed in court on Wednesday, with counsel for the claimant, Ife Ajayi, informing the court about the service of the process.

The first defendant's counsel, Nzeakor Atulomah, raised a preliminary objection on January 29, 2026, arguing that the claimant's writ of summons failed to comply with Section 97 of the Sheriff and Civil Process Act, claiming it rendered the suit incompetent. The court had previously granted permission for preliminary objections regarding service on February 2, 2026.

An interim order was issued on January 22, 2026, restraining the defendant from mentioning Okafor's name in any materials related to the ministry during the case's determination. The court also prohibited the release of materials allegedly intended for blackmail until the conclusion of the case.
