Dowen College Sealed by Lagos Government Over Waste Management Violations

The Lagos State Government has sealed Dowen College, a prestigious private school in Lekki Phase 1, due to violations of waste management regulations. The closure was confirmed by Commissioner of Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, who shared the enforcement action on social media.

The school was sealed by operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) in collaboration with the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) after an unidentified man affiliated with Dowen College was apprehended for breaching waste disposal laws. The government emphasized its commitment to enforcing environmental regulations and maintaining public hygiene in the city.

The closure has sparked reactions from the Dowen College community, with some parents considering withdrawing their children from the institution following the recent tragic death of a student allegedly due to bullying.
