Lagos seals Ijora property over sewage discharge

The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) sealed a property at 229 Moshood Abiola Way in Ijora for allegedly discharging untreated sewage directly into a public drain. The action, taken on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, was prompted by the discovery of indiscriminate waste disposal causing environmental pollution and posing a risk to human health.

Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed the violation of environmental safety standards and emphasized the importance of proper wastewater management to safeguard public health and the environment. Wahab warned that such acts of environmental nuisance and pollution would result in stiff penalties, including prosecution.
