ADC Expels Members, Prepares for 2027 Elections

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expelled Nafiu Bala and Abejide as part of its internal restructuring. The party is set to hold a national convention to prepare for the 2027 general elections, despite challenges posed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

David Mark, the national chairman, highlighted the importance of the convention, asserting that it is crucial for the party to establish necessary mechanisms for electoral participation. Mark expressed that the ADC's goals extend beyond mere political success, aiming instead to deliver better governance and address national issues.

The convention will also focus on selecting a presidential candidate, with various aspirants, including former governors and candidates from other parties, indicating interest in the presidential ticket. The ADC plans to notify INEC about the convention, emphasizing that the commission's monitoring is not a prerequisite for its legitimacy.

The party faces significant hurdles but remains committed to its objectives and the democratic process in Nigeria.
