Osun Monarch Oba Muideen Azeez Arrested in Court

Oba Muideen Azeez, the traditional ruler of Egbedi, was arrested by the Nigeria Police Force within the premises of the Osun State High Court on Monday. He appeared before Justice Kudirat Akano facing charges related to arson and firearm offenses stemming from an incident on September 3, 2019, involving the destruction of a farm in Iloba.

The charges include the alleged theft of palm oil, palm kernel, and domestic animals valued at N10 million. During the court session, defense counsel M.

Atobatele called four witnesses, including three police officers, to testify. One officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police Olusoji Akindosu, recounted that the monarch had previously complained about someone destroying his farm.

The police confirmed that the arrest was executed based on a court order and remand warrant. The case has been adjourned until June 17 for further hearing.
