Osun Monarch Oba Azeez Arrested and Remanded in Court

Oba Azeez was arrested in court and subsequently remanded in custody after failing to appear for a separate case, leading Justice Arojo to issue a bench warrant against him on May 18, 2026. The charges against him involve allegations of arson and destruction of farmland valued at N200 million, with the incidents reportedly occurring on September 3, 2019, at a farm located in Oloba.

The prosecution alleges that Oba Azeez and his co-defendants committed offenses involving armed robbery against Wasilatu Akinola, who was processing palm oil. The court documents indicate that the defendants are accused of taking possession of farmland and engaging in quarrels that resulted in the destruction of crops valued at N17 million.

Following his arrest, Oba Azeez was taken to the correct facility in compliance with the court order. The Osun State Police Command confirmed the arrest was based on a valid court directive.
