Driver jailed for assaulting FRSC officials in Kwara

A driver in Kwara State has been sentenced to jail for assaulting officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). The defendant, identified as Samson, was found guilty of obstructing the FRSC patrol team and assaulting its members on July 20, 2024.

The court heard that Samson stopped his Toyota Sienna and mobilized a crowd to assault the patrol team, even climbing onto their vehicle to remove an impounded motorcycle. Three witnesses testified against him, leading to his conviction on multiple charges including criminal intimidation, assault, inciting disturbance, and obstructing a public officer in the line of duty.

The Magistrate sentenced Samson to a total of six months imprisonment and imposed fines for his actions. The case was deemed proven beyond a reasonable doubt, and the judgment was delivered accordingly.
