DSS Arrests Man for Threatening Peter Obi's Life

The Department of State Services (DSS) apprehended a 26-year-old man named Udem Mondai Stephen, who claimed responsibility for an assassination attempt on former presidential candidate Peter Obi and former APC national chairman John Oyegun. The incident occurred on February 24 when armed men opened fire during a political meeting in Benin, narrowly missing Obi and Oyegun.

Stephen later issued threats against Obi, stating online that Obi was lucky to have escaped but would not be fortunate next time. Security expert Zagazola Makama confirmed the arrest via a post on social media, revealing that the DSS launched a covert investigation using forensic tools to trace and apprehend the suspect.

Stephen, a teacher at Jessica High School in Eliozu, Obio Akpor Local Government Area, Rivers State, was identified as the perpetrator by top security sources.
