DSS Arrests Notorious ESN Commander in Enugu State

The Department of State Services (DSS) apprehended Sebastian Odo Odam, a suspected notorious commander of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), alongside Ejik Daniel, an alleged member of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), in Enugu State on Friday. This operation was coordinated in Eha Amufu, Umuhu Community, within the Isi Uzo Local Government Area, following a month of intelligence gathering and sustained surveillance.

Sources indicate that Odam is allegedly involved in a series of violent attacks on police stations, which reportedly resulted in multiple fatalities, including the deaths of two policemen in January 2026, two in February 2026, and one in December 2025. The arrest is described as a significant breakthrough in ongoing efforts to combat insecurity in the southeastern region of Nigeria.

Local residents have welcomed the development, expressing hope that it will help restore peace to the community, which has experienced repeated attacks. The suspects are currently in DSS custody and are expected to be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
