DSS DG Ajayi Named NUJ Man of the Year for Media Partnership

Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), received the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Man of the Year award for his role in enhancing collaboration between security agencies and the media. The award was presented during the NUJ's 2nd National Security Summit, which took place in Abuja from June 18 to 19.

The summit, themed "Media and Security Agencies: Partners in Nation Building," attracted various stakeholders, including media executives, journalists, security chiefs, policymakers, and civil society organizations. The NUJ recognized Ajayi's leadership approach, emphasizing the importance of mutual respect and transparency in the media-security relationship.

Ajayi's initiatives include regular interactions with media stakeholders to reduce suspicion and misinformation while fostering cooperation to address security challenges. The summit featured speakers such as NUJ President Alhassan Yahaya Abdullahi and Alhaji Moham Idri, who underscored the need for ethical journalism and coordinated actions across institutions to enhance national security.
