DSS DG Ajayi Wins NUJ Man of the Year Award

On June 19, 2026, Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), was honored with the NUJ Man of the Year award for his efforts in strengthening the partnership between media and security agencies. This recognition was announced during a two-day national security summit held in Abuja, organized by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

The summit, themed "Media and Security Agencies: Partners in Nation Building," aimed to foster collaboration among various stakeholders, including journalists, security agencies, policymakers, and civil society actors. Comrade Alhassan Yahaya Abdullahi, the NUJ National President, described the summit as timely given the complex security environment in Nigeria.

The event highlighted the need for ethical journalism and accurate reporting to address security challenges. Recommendations from the summit included improving proactive communication between media and security agencies, enhancing fact-checking standards, and increasing government investment in youth education and empowerment.
