DSS DG Receives NUJ 'Man of the Year' Award in Abuja

The Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Ajayi, was awarded the NUJ 'Man of the Year' during the 2nd National Security Summit held in Abuja on June 18-19, 2026. The summit, themed "Media and Security: Agencies Partnering for Nation Building," gathered media executives, journalists, security chiefs, policymakers, academics, and civil society members to discuss the role of media in enhancing national security.

Comrade Alhassan Yahaya Abdullahi, the NUJ National President, emphasized the summit's timeliness amid rising threats such as terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, cybercrime, and violent extremism. Alhaji Moham Idri, the event chair, commended the federal government's commitment to intelligence-driven operations and inter-agency collaboration.

Key speakers included Prof. Okei Ikechukwu, President of the IPI Nigeria, and Musikilu Mojeed, who stressed the need for ethical and accurate journalism.

Aisha Ibrahim, President of NawoJ, advocated for women's involvement in peacebuilding efforts.
