DSS DG Ajayi Receives NUJ Man of the Year Award 2026

Mr. Oluwatosin Adeola Ajayi, MON, the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), received the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Man of the Year 2026 award on Monday.

He described the recognition as a strong endorsement of the partnership between Nigeria's security agencies and the media. Ajayi expressed gratitude to the NUJ, stating that the award reflects the positive relationship developed between the DSS and journalists since he took office.

He emphasized the media's role as a dependable partner and reiterated the DSS's commitment to press freedom, recalling his pledge against the arrest of journalists. Ajayi stated that the recognition would motivate the DSS to enhance national security while maintaining constructive engagement with the media.

Comrade Alhassan Yahya Abdullahi, NUJ National President, noted that the award was based on Ajayi's leadership in strengthening media relations and support for the NUJ National Security Summit held in June 2026. The ceremony included senior DSS officials and NUJ leadership members.
