DSS Transfers Walida Abdullahi Babi to Jigawa Government

The Department of State Services (DSS) has officially handed over Walida Abdullahi Babi to the Jigawa State government. This decision was made after a meeting late Wednesday night at the DSS headquarters in Abuja, attended by the Director General of DSS, Adeola Ajayi, and Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Umar Namadi.

Walida's case has been surrounded by controversy due to allegations of her abduction of a minor, with whom she has a child. The Minister of Women Affairs, Hajia Imaan Sulaiman Ibrahim, addressed journalists shortly after a private session at the DSS headquarters, confirming that Walida is a 22-year-old woman from Jigawa State.

She emphasized that the National Population Commission (NPC) has verified Walida's birth records, reaffirming her age in accordance with the Child Rights Act of Nigeria, which defines a child as anyone under 18 years. Sulaiman Ibrahim also noted that Nigeria is a signatory to several international laws protecting the rights of citizens, including women and children.
