DSS Transfers Walida Ibrahim to Jigawa State Government

The Department of State Services (DSS) has officially handed over Walida Ibrahim, a 16-year-old girl who went missing in November 2023, to the Jigawa State government. Walida resurfaced two years later and is connected to Ifeanyi Onyewuenyi, identified by DSS operatives.

Reports indicate that she gave birth to a baby girl in November 2025. The case has attracted intense public and media scrutiny due to allegations of abduction and exploitation, prompting court actions and demands from civil society groups for her return to her family.

A statement issued on Thursday by Favor Dozi, the Deputy Director of Public Relations, confirmed the DSS's decision to hand over Walida following the findings of a joint investigative committee. This committee included officials from the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, FIDA, and other notable civil society organizations.

The formal handover occurred at approximately 5:45 PM on February 26, with Walida accommodated in a state government facility for protection and security pending the conclusion of ongoing litigation.
