DSS Arrests Fake Officer Extorting Abuja Motorists

The Department of State Services (DSS) arrested Moferewa Maiye for allegedly impersonating a DSS officer and extorting motorists in Abuja. The arrest occurred late Wednesday at his hideout near NITEL Junction, along Adetokunbo Ademola Way, Wuse II, Abuja, following credible intelligence.

At the time of his arrest, Maiye was dressed in a DSS tactical uniform and possessed a fake pistol. He reportedly intimidated commuters and motorists to extort money from them.

Maiye, who claimed to be from Agbajojun Village in the Mopamuro Local Government Area of Kogi State, stated that his deceased brother, Monday Maiye, was a DSS operative. Investigators are working to determine the duration of Maiye's impersonation and extortion activities, as well as how he acquired the DSS uniform and tactical equipment.

The DSS expressed growing concern over individuals impersonating security personnel to commit criminal acts.
