El-Rufai Claims DSS Attempted His Abduction at Airport

Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, claimed during a BBC Pidgin interview that the Department of State Services (DSS) planned to abduct him and transfer him to the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC). This incident reportedly occurred on Thursday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja as he was about to board Egypt Air flight MS 877 to Cairo, Egypt.

El-Rufai alleged that 50 DSS operatives attempted to arrest him without a warrant. He stated that the incident was an embarrassment not only to him but also to the federal government and the entire nation.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, during a solidarity visit to El-Rufai's residence in Abuja, argued that the security operation was intended to embarrass the former governor rather than serve a legitimate purpose.
