DSS Compensates Wrongfully Arrested Man Linked to Boko Haram

The Department of State Services (DSS) released Nura Idri, who had been wrongfully arrested due to alleged links with Boko Haram. The decision was made by the DSS Director General, Oluwatosin Ajayi, after a thorough review by the DSS investigative panel, which found no basis for the charges against Idri.

As part of the release, the DSS provided him with ₦3 million as monetary compensation to assist with his immediate needs. Idri expressed gratitude towards the DSS for their kind gesture, stating that the funds would help him restart his life.

His father, Yusuf Idri, also thanked the DSS for their generosity. The DSS has committed to providing psychological and medical support to wrongfully detained individuals and aims to build public trust through such measures.

This release is part of an internal review exercise initiated by the DSS to reassess prolonged detention cases and ensure that individuals wrongfully detained are compensated and released.
